Many people are familiar with the law of attraction, which states that what you think about you attract.
Evolutionary Astrology emphasizes the importance of the Law of Attraction because it asks us to take personal responsibility for our lives. This means having conscious awareness of the thoughts and energies we put out into the world. It is also about having conscious awareness of what is in our astrological charts, so we know where and how to direct our thoughts for best results.
When we recognize that we all have free will to direct our lives in the most positive ways through our thoughts, it becomes clear why doing so through astrological transits is highly beneficial. Astrological transits offer us a window of time where our thoughts hold greater power - especially if they are in synch with universal rhythms.
Your transit chart tells you what changes lie ahead and how to best navigate them, but if you are unaware of the information that exists - either within your natal chart or your transit chart - it will be hard for you to make the best decisions for yourself. It would be like choosing food at a buffet before seeing all the options or embarking on a cross-country trip without a map. Having the guidance from your transit chart ensures you know where you are going, and how to prepare for the possibilities that lie ahead.
A key point in Evolutionary Astrology is that there is always more attention placed on how YOU bring out your chart’s greatest potential rather than on how the chart itself controls, directs, or has power over you. Everyone will experience the effects of planetary transits, but it is the individual’s consciousness that ultimately directs the outcome of each transit.
As a quick refresher, a transit is simply a planet moving in the sky, that when aligned in a certain way (via a mathematical angle or "aspect") to your natal planets has the power to effect change and evolutionary growth in you. In either case, we all experience psychological changes when transiting planets interact with our natal planets. That said, the Law of Attraction can be used to help us live more intentionally and direct the outcomes of our transits more positively.
Here’s an example:
Say that Uranus is transiting in your 7th house of marriage and it’s about to conjunct (align with) Venus. Here we have a classic example of a time where one partner may declare he/she wants a divorce. Uranus is the planet of individuation and independence, and it craves its freedom. Thus, it will sometimes take drastic actions to achieve it (remember that Uranus just represents a part of your psyche that needs to be able to think for itself and act for itself). So, when Uranus gets “activated” in you, if you have a controlling partner that you’ve been putting up with all these years, you may finally muster the courage to leave. Uranus is famous for initiating “sudden changes” that occur seemingly out of the blue. But in reality, whatever is about to happen has been brewing in someone for a long time. This planetary transit just gives the person the impetus, confidence, and hellbent assertion to take action that finally honors their authentic self.
The way the Law of Attraction applies here is if the person planning to leave recognizes this transit occurring in her chart before it’s fully active in her energetic and emotional field, she could prepare her departure much more logically and tactfully by using her thoughts to envision the most simplified (drama free) break up.
Example Number Two:
Now, let’s say that there is a happily married couple and the woman notices that her husband has Uranus coming into his 7th house and beginning to aspect Venus (same scenario as above), she could choose to fear that he might leave – drawing more negative, but powerful energy into that possibility – or she could simply give her husband more space, insisting he takes some time get away – maybe go on that hunting trip he’s been putting off, or plan a weekend away with his buddies – and she genuinely encourages him to feel a sense of freedom and space within their relationship. This would be taking the high road, because instead of fearing he may leave her if she gives him space, she trusts what the Universe is telling her that he needs. And, whether he knows it or not, he appreciates her more after coming home because he was given his freedom to roam.
In both situations, directing our thoughts toward the “most desirable outcome” during any planetary transit, is always going to yield better results than if we sit back and do nothing, or live in ignorance. When are aware of what is happening in our lives, we can better prepare ourselves mentally for the choices we are capable of making. The Law of Attraction compliments astrology because it amps up the power and self-growth available to us in every transit we experience. All we have to do is focus our minds on the best possible outcomes while working with the planetary energies already strong within us.
